Student Enrolment Information

Enrolling in nationally recognised training is a commitment of time and money. Before you make it, we want you to have everything you need to decide — what the course involves, what it costs, what you will walk away with, and whether it is genuinely the right course for you.

This page sets out exactly how enrolment works with Pluto Training. If anything is unclear, call us on (02) 9138 3500 or email info@plutotraining.edu.au.

What we tell you before you enrol

Before you enrol, we will give you the following information in writing so you can make an informed decision:

  • The code, title and currency of the training product you are enrolling in, exactly as published on the national register at training.gov.au.
  • Entry requirements and any prerequisites.
  • Course duration, delivery mode and where training and assessment will take place.
  • The training and assessment methods used, and what you will need to demonstrate.
  • The total amount payable – tuition, administration and any materials fees and payment terms.
  • Our refund arrangements and your cooling off rights.
  • What you need to provide, including any equipment or personal protective equipment, and what we provide.
  • Support services, facilities and resources available to you.
  • Recognition of Prior Learning and Credit Transfer options.
  • Your rights and obligations, including our complaints and appeals process.
  • The name and contact details of any third party delivering training or assessment on our behalf, if applicable.
If it is not right for you, we will say so. If the training you want is not within our scope of registration, we will tell you and refer you to training.gov.au to find a provider who delivers it. We would rather lose a booking than enrol you in the wrong course.

Fees and funding

All courses delivered by Pluto Training are offered on a fee for service basis. This means you or your employer pay the published course fee directly.

Full details of what you will pay, how to pay, payment plans and refunds are set out on our Fees, Charges and Refunds page. Prices for each course are published on the course page.

The pre-training review

Every student completes a pre-training review before enrolment is confirmed. It is free, and it is not something you can fail.

The review is a conversation that confirms three things:

  1. That the course suits you — your experience, your existing competencies, and what you are actually trying to achieve on site.
  2. Whether you already have credit — prior tickets, qualifications or experience may reduce what you need to complete. See RPL and Credit Transfer.
  3. Whether you need support — so we can put it in place before you start rather than after you have struggled.

As part of the review we will discuss any prerequisite requirements that apply to the course you are interested in, and record that discussion in your enrolment documentation.

Language, literacy, numeracy and digital skills

As part of the pre-training review you will complete an assessment of your language, literacy, numeracy and digital skills. There is no charge for this at any stage.

The assessment is used to:

  • Identify whether you have the foundation skills to participate successfully in your chosen course.
  • Pick up any support needs before training starts.
  • Assess digital skills where training or assessment involves computers or online resources.
  • Help your trainer provide the right support and reasonable adjustments.

Your results are confidential. They are only discussed with you where additional support may help. A result that identifies a support need does not stop you enrolling.

Reasonable adjustment

Being able to operate a machine and being able to fill in a form are two different skills. If reading, writing or maths is a barrier for you, tell us and we will adjust how we assess you.

Reasonable adjustments are made provided the integrity of the training product, the assessment requirements, the workplace outcome and any licensing requirements are maintained. More detail is on our Student Support page.

Unique Student Identifier (USI)

Everyone undertaking nationally recognised training in Australia must have a Unique Student Identifier. It links all your nationally recognised training to one secure online record, no matter which provider you train with — so you can access your training history any time you need it for a new employer or another course.

You have two options:

  • Create your own USI free of charge at usi.gov.au. It takes a few minutes.
  • Tick the box on your enrolment form and give us permission to create or verify one on your behalf.
We cannot legally issue you a qualification or Statement of Attainment without a valid USI. Your USI will not appear on your certification documentation.

If a USI exemption applies to you, we will tell you before you enrol that your results will not be accessible through the Commonwealth and will not appear on an authenticated VET transcript.

How to enrol

Step 1 — Get in touch

Call (02) 9138 3500 or email info@plutotraining.edu.au and tell us which machine you need to be ticketed on, or what you are trying to get on site to do. If you are not sure which course applies, we will work it out with you.

Step 2 — Course information and Student Handbook

We will send you the full course details and the Student Handbook, and give you time to read them before you commit to anything.

Step 3 — Pre-training review and LLND assessment

We run the pre-training review with you and you complete the LLND assessment. Both are free.

Step 4 — Complete your enrolment form

Once you have had time to review the handbook and you are happy to proceed, complete and return the enrolment form. By signing it you confirm that the information you have given is accurate, that you have received sufficient information to make an informed decision, that you have read our complaints and appeals policy and refund policy, and that you agree to be bound by the Student Code of Conduct.

Step 5 — Pay, or set up a payment plan

Enrolments are not processed until fees are paid, a payment plan has been agreed in writing, or you have written confirmation that you are exempt from payment. See Fees, Charges and Refunds.

Step 6 — Confirmation and study plan

You will receive a welcome letter, an invoice and your study plan.

Your study plan

Once your enrolment is processed you receive a study plan setting out:

  • The units of competency you will complete.
  • The timeframe for completing them.
  • The training to be undertaken and the delivery modes used.
  • Your trainer and assessor details.
  • Assessment details and arrangements.
  • Any RPL or Credit Transfer granted before you commence.
  • The qualification or Statement of Attainment to be issued on successful completion.

Dates can change over time. Your trainer will keep you and your training plan updated.

Students under 18

If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must also sign your enrolment form and provide their contact details. Everything else about the process is the same.

Changing your mind, withdrawing or deferring

Cooling off period

Under Australian Consumer Law you have five business days from the date of enrolment to withdraw. If you withdraw during this period you must return all Pluto learning and assessment materials to us. Enrolment and administration fees are not refundable.

Withdrawing after the cooling off period

You can withdraw at any time. What you get back depends on when you withdraw – the full refund table is on our Fees, Charges and Refunds page. Submit your request in writing and you will receive a written decision within 20 working days.

Because we deliver unit by unit, you keep full credit for every unit you have already completed. You can request a Statement of Attainment for those units at any time.

Deferring

If something has come up – health, work, family – talk to us before you withdraw. We may be able to arrange a deferment or an adjusted plan instead.

If we cannot deliver

If we are unable to deliver training you have paid for, you will receive a refund for the services not delivered, or we will arrange for you to transfer to another registered training organisation.

What we do not guarantee

We cannot guarantee that you will complete a training product, or that you will obtain a particular job or employment outcome. Those things depend on you and on factors outside our control.

What we do guarantee is that we will deliver the training, assessment and support services for the course you have enrolled in and paid for, and that we will support you properly while you do it.

Questions before you enrol?

Ask us anything. We would rather spend five minutes on the phone than have you book the wrong course.
