Updated: July 28, 2026 RTO 46209

Who this applies to

This policy explains how Pluto Training Pty Ltd (ABN 88 659 653 291, RTO 46209) collects, uses, stores and discloses your personal information.

It applies to students, prospective students, employers who book training with us, and anyone who contacts us through this website.

We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles, the Student Identifiers Act 2014, and the National VET Data Policy.

What we collect

If you enquire

Your name, phone number, email address, the course you are interested in, and anything else you choose to tell us.

If you enrol

Because we are a registered training organisation, some of what we collect is prescribed by law rather than chosen by us:

  • Name, date of birth, gender, and contact details including residential and postal address.
  • Your Unique Student Identifier (USI).
  • Emergency contact details.
  • Country of birth, language spoken at home, and whether you identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.
  • Highest school level completed and any prior qualifications.
  • Employment status and your reason for studying.
  • Employer details, where an employer is involved in your training.
  • Your training records, assessment results, attendance and certification issued.
  • Payment and fee records.

Sensitive information

We ask whether you have a disability, impairment or long-term condition, and whether you need support.

You do not have to answer. If you choose to, we use it only to arrange support and reasonable adjustments, and to keep you safe around plant and equipment. It is not used to decide whether you are accepted.

Why we collect it

  • To process and manage your enrolment.
  • To deliver and assess your training.
  • To identify support needs and arrange support.
  • To issue your qualification or Statement of Attainment.
  • To meet our reporting obligations as an RTO.
  • To manage fees, invoicing and payment plans.
  • To handle complaints, appeals and feedback.
  • To keep you safe while training.

If you choose not to give us information we need, we may not be able to enrol you or issue your certification.

VET Data Privacy Notice

This section is required by the National VET Data Policy and applies to every student undertaking nationally recognised training in Australia.

Why we collect your personal information

As a registered training organisation, we collect your personal information so we can process and manage your enrolment in a vocational education and training course with us.

How we use your personal information

We use your personal information to enable us to deliver VET courses to you, and otherwise as needed to comply with our obligations as an RTO.

How we disclose your personal information

We are required by law (under the National Vocational Education and Training Regulator Act 2011 (Cth)) to disclose the personal information we collect about you to the National VET Data Collection kept by the National Centre for Vocational Education Research Ltd (NCVER). NCVER is responsible for collecting, managing, analysing and communicating research and statistics about the Australian VET sector.

We are also authorised by law to disclose your personal information to the relevant state or territory training authority.

How the NCVER and other bodies handle your personal information

The NCVER will collect, hold, use and disclose your personal information in accordance with the law, including the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the NVETR Act. Your personal information may be used and disclosed by NCVER for purposes that include populating authenticated VET transcripts; facilitating statistics and research relating to education, including surveys and data linkage; understanding the VET market; administration of VET; and other purposes as required or permitted by law.

NCVER is authorised to disclose information to the Australian Government Department responsible for skills, Commonwealth and state or territory training authorities, and VET regulators for purposes such as administering VET, including program administration, regulation, monitoring and evaluation.

You may receive an invitation from NCVER or a Commonwealth, state or territory authority to complete a survey. These surveys are voluntary and any information you provide will be treated confidentially.

NCVER may also disclose personal information to persons engaged by NCVER to conduct research on its behalf. NCVER does not intend to disclose your personal information to any overseas recipients.

For more information about how NCVER will handle your personal information, see the NCVER Privacy Policy at ncver.edu.au/privacy.

Surveys

You may opt out of being contacted for the National Student Outcomes Survey at the time of enrolment. Tell us and we will record it.

Your Unique Student Identifier

We are required to verify or create a USI for you, and we cannot issue nationally recognised certification without one.

Your USI is handled under the Student Identifiers Act 2014. We use it only to verify your identity in the USI Registry, to report your training activity, and to issue your certification.

Your USI will never appear on your certificate or Statement of Attainment.
